Description:

​

The Fall Festival is open to students of all instruments and voice.  This is a non-competitive event and serves as a wonderful opportunity for ALL students of NEOMTA teachers to perform in front of a supportive audience. 

 

Each student will receive a judge’s written evaluation of their performance, a certificate, and a ribbon for participating in the festival. 

​

Please note, registration forms SHOULD BE SUBMITTED BY TEACHERS ONLY. Likewise, teachers must collect individual payments from students and make a single online payment to NEOMTA through PayPal. Please email Dr. Peng or Dr. Shung at neomtafestivals@gmail.com if you have any questions.

In-Person Performances

​

The 2024 Fall Festival is offered in recital format.  Only acoustic instruments are permitted for in-person performances, without electric amplification.

​

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT DEADLINE IS October 16th, 2024.  

Late applications and/or late payment will not be accepted.

​

Virtual Performances

​

Students may also choose to perform in the Spring Festival virtually via video submission.

Videos that do not follow the guidelines will be disqualified.  Please review the guidelines carefully with your teacher.

 

To submit your video performance, click here.  Submissions of videos are due by 11:59PM,  November 10th, 2024.

 

Classifications:

​​

  • Early Elementary (e.g. Thompson Easiest Piano Course, Bastien Piano Basics Book 1, Diller/Quaile 1st Solo Book)

  • Elementary (e.g. Bach Minuet in G major, Beethoven Ecossaise in G major, Schumann Album for the Young: Melody)

  • Intermediate (e.g. Bach Short Prelude in C minor; Clementi Sonatina in C major, Op. 36 No. 1, Burgmuller Ballade)

  • Advanced (e.g. Bach Two or Three-Part Invention, Beethoven Sonata Op. 2 No. 1, Chopin Nocturne)

 

Maximum Performance Times per Classification

  • 3 minutes, Early Elementary and Elementary

  • 5 minutes, Intermediate

  • 8 minutes, Advanced

Each performer can perform a maximum of two pieces, regardless of the estimated time.

​

Rules and Regulations:

 

Each performer will receive an adjudicator’s written evaluation, certificate, and ribbon once they have finished performing.

  

Ensemble teams must adhere to proper ensemble configurations. For example, piano four-hands is a duet ensemble and must comprise of two participants only!  

 

Singers and instrumentalists are responsible for finding their own accompanist.  

Accompanist fees are to be settled in private and are not covered by the festival organization.

 

Changes in repertoire are allowed until two weeks before the festival date.  

Festival Chairs MUST be notified via e-mail of all repertoire changes prior to the deadline.

After the registration period has closed, teachers will receive an email from the Festival Chairs to confirm performers, performance time, and venue. 

 

Memorization is optional. 

 

Copies of Scores

​

All participants must bring with them one original copy of each score for use by the judges. Photocopies are NOT allowed.  Participants will be immediately disqualified from the festival if photocopies are used. 

 

Copies of music from public domain are allowed with proof of its origin and must comply with U.S. Copyright Law.

 

If using digitally downloaded music, the original purchase receipt must be available upon request at the registration table.

​

A hard copy of any digitally-purchased music is required: digital judge's scores will not be accepted.

 

If performing with music, participants and accompanist must still provide a score for the judges. 

 

Measures must be numbered at the beginning of each system.  Music scores will be returned to the student with the adjudicator's comments and certificate at the end of his or her timeslot.

Fees: 

$21.00 solo/ensemble for students of an NEOMTA member
$42.00 solo/ensemble for students of non-NEOMTA members

IMPORTANT: You must register using the online form AND complete your payment using PayPal. Registration will not be accepted without an accompanying online payment!
